Looking for the SHEEHAN family in Marion Co. My GGgrandfather Benjamin SHEEHAN married Johannah CONNOR on Aug. 27, 1865 in Marion Co. In the IL statewide marriage index, their names are spelled SHEHAN and CONNERS. Benjamin's parents were Michael SHEEHAN and Ellen AHERN. Michael and Ellen were in Port Louisa, Iowa in 1856, but not in 1860. They had 3 other children, Margaret, John, and Timothy. They were Irish, so Benjamin and Johannah would have gotten married in a Catholic church.

Surnames: ROBB JONES NEWMAN DRAPER FARRIER
Submitter: Cheryl (qbokie@earthlink.net)
Date: 25 Aug 2002

1850 Federal Census of Marion county lists: Joseph Robb age 52 b. SC Rebecca age 42 b. TN Sarah age 8 b. IL Mary age 6 b. IL Alexander 4 b. IL Archie 2 b. IL Emaline 2/12 b. IL I believe the 2 yr old son, Archie, my be my gr gr grandfather but need more info to be sure. I had previous info stating Archibald "Archie" was b. abt 1852 in Kinmunday. I just recently came across info of Archibald Robb b. 23 Apr 1848, IL, with Father Joseph and Mother Rebecca. This would fit with the 1850 census age. He married Nancy Jane Jones (b. abt 1856, Kinmunday) 25 Mar 1875 in Marion County (Marriage Book Vol D, page 101). Nancy Jones later married Marcellus J. Newman 11 Apr 1882 in Marion County (Marriage Book D, pg 154). The new info I got also says Archibald d. 12 Nov 1878 which would be prior to Nancy's marriage to Marcellus and prior to the birth of Archibald and Nancy's two children: Walter b. Jan 1876 and Olive Belle b. 1878. Olive later married Ira Abell Draper 1898 in Marion Co. He was the son of William L Draper and Sarah J. Farrier. I have only been able to find Archibald on the 1850 census, which makes since now if he died in 1878. He didn't marry until 1875 at age 27 so he would have been in his father's household in 1860 and 1870, mostly likely, and died before the 1880 census. Since Nancy was still in Marion Co when she remarried I feel Archibald must be buried in Marion Co. If you have info about Joseph and Rebecca Robb that can support the idea their Archie is my gr gr grandfather or know where Archibald is buried, I'd sure appreciate the info. Will gladly share all I have about his descendants. thanks, Cheryl
