Blanche M. "Thompson" Chasteen, 80, of Kinmundy died at 7:02 a.m. Monday, February 8, 1993, at St. Mary's Hospital, Centralia, Illinois. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Neal Funeral Home, Kinmundy, IL, with burial in Elder Cemetery, rural Kinmundy. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today. Memorials may be made to Kinmundy-Alma Emergency Medical Technicians.
Mrs. Chasteen was born May 29, 1912, in Meacham Township, the daughter of Fred Ernest and Lucy Venus "Mulvaney" Thompson. She married Morris Chasteen. He preceded her in death in 1957. She was a member of Kinmundy Christian Church.
Surviving are her sons; Lester of Effingham, Marvin of Pana, Bill of Moweaqua; daughters Alice Torgler and Virginia Gibson both of Salem; sisters Normagene Hopper of Metropolis; Marjorie Pierce of Brookport, Neita Williams of Brownstown, Freida Wright of Fayetteville, N.C. and Josephine Thompson of Taylorville; 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, one son, one daughter, and four brothers.
