MARTIN, RACKHAM posted by Deanna Staley     Looking for siblings of Mary Ellen MARTIN b. 1855 in Sandoval, Marion County, Illinois. She was the daughter of Welcome MARTIN and Mary (MAINE) MARTIN. Welcome and his wife Mary moved to Sandoval from Delaware County, Ohio in about 1853. Welcome owned and operated a general store for the railroad personnel in Sandoval. On the 1860 census children Charlie and Edson (may be short for Madison?) were listed, one 9 years old and one 11, both born in Ohio, along with Mary Ella, 5 years old. Cannot locate the family on the 1850 census, so unsure of other siblings, but family tradition says they had a LOT of children. Mary Ellen married Frank Thomas RACKHAM in Marion County in 1877. After Mary (MAINE) MARTIN died, Welcome was supposed to have married a widow by the name of Lindsay. He died in 1879 unknown where. Frank Thomas RACKHAM was the son of Thomas RACKHAM and Catherine Ann TEATS. Thomas was a railroad engineer and lived in Centralia. He died in 1897. According to copies of the information in a family bible, Catherine died a couple of weeks after Frank Thomas was born in 1854 in Centralia. (Frank Thomas was born in Marshall, Michigan though.) Thomas RACKHAM remarried an Annie BROWN (I think). They had several children together. Any help with any of these families would be appreciated. Thomas was listed on the 1860 census as Thomas RAKKAIM. Thanks in advance for help Deanna Staley
